Councillor Oke advised that he attended a cheque presentation for Jessica's House in Crediton.
Councillor Tomes advised that the Social Committee met and are willing to proceed with the planning of the Canada 150 celebration dinner for past and present Council members if it's Council's wish. They will work with staff using the established guidelines.
Deputy Mayor Frayne stated that he did support the dinner but would like the Heritage Committee to look into signage for hamlets within South Huron.
Councillor DeLuca advised that the Volunteer Appreciation night will be May 30, 2017 at the Barn, with the same format as in 2016. Invitations will be sent out.
Councillor Vaughan noted that South Huron Chamber of Commerce held a Women in Business networking event. Approximately 40 individuals attended the first event. She also attended the Risk Management seminar in London.
Councillor Oke thanked Deputy Clerk Carla Preston for her excellent work over the past few years and offered best wishes in her future endeavors.
Councillor Hebert attended the Conservation Authority dinner and noted that it was a very successful event.
Mayor Cole reviewed her trip to Vimy and surrounding war cemeteries in Britain, France and the Netherlands. She noted that the students on the trip were very respectful, engaged and excellent ambassadors for our community.
Mayor Cole noted that there are several requests for Canada 150 funding including the Lioness Club, Exeter Legion, Cultural Collective and South Huron Community Fund. Staff will provide a report to update Council on the Canada 150 funds available and all requests for those funds.
Mayor Cole has agreed to sit on the board for the Huron-Perth Hospice to assist with their governance model and writing policies for that committee.
She will attend the sod turning for Jessica's house on Friday, April 24 and will attend Huron County Municipal Officers Association meeting as well.
Lisa Thompson will host a Canada 150 celebration in South Huron on June 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the South Huron Recreation Centre. Mayor Cole requested that the cost of the facility be paid from the Canada 150 funds.
CAO Dan Best advised that he will have a report for the next Council meeting to provide more information on this event.
Councillor Tomes advised that there is a Sewage Board meeting on April 28, 2017 and the Open House at the Grand Bend sewage plant will be on June 15, 2017 with schools attending in the morning and the public in the afternoon.
Councillor Hebert advised that the Farmer's Market will be attending a future meeting as a delegation to Council.
