Deputy Mayor Frayne advised that he will attend the International Plowing Match, (IPM), in Walton to volunteer at the Huron County Accessibility Committee tent and the South Huron barn.
Councillor Hebert noted that he will also attend the IPM. He confirmed that the Communities in Bloom budget includes $1,000 for the annual conference and provided a copy of the budget to the Clerk.
Councillor Vaughan attended, with Councillor Tomes, the Grand Cove information session to review the information provided in the Council Chambers regarding the capital cost recovery process for the Grand Bend Sewage Treatment Facility. A link has been added to the municipal website that sets out all reports, meetings, decisions and costing information to date that relates to the Grand Bend Sewage Treatment Facility project. She noted that a buyer will need to ask questions about the utility bills to find out if there is a debenture.
Councillor Tomes noted he attended the Grand Cove meeting with Councillor Vaughan. He also noted that there has been a good response to the Canada 150 Past and Present Council Dinner invitations.
Councillor Oke noted that the Kirkton Fair was very successful with an excellent turn out and great weather. He noted that both arenas are busy with girls and boys hockey try-outs.
He attended the public information session regarding the Exeter Pool and Washroom project. He noted that Council has made a decision not to discuss the indoor pool further during this term of Council.
Mayor Cole advised that Council can revisit decisions and has advised the public of the process to reconsider a decision. She is supporting the procedural by-law regarding revisiting a motion.
Mayor Cole also attended the W.A.L.K. Talk, Run and the Huron Park Firefighters pork chop supper. She congratulated Goderich on being successful in getting $250,000 for their recreation programming. She thanked Deputy Mayor Frayne and Councillor Vaughan for planning on attending the South Huron barn at the IPM and noted that she expects mileage will be reimbursed for that. She noted that the IPM will be great for pulling Huron County together. She also mentioned that the United Way will be asking for support, they are focusing on promoting the 211 Information telephone number.
Councilllor Hebert noted that the Communities in Bloom judges gave South Huron five blooms with a special mention for the downtown parkette.
