Mayor Cole called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m..

Deb Homuth, Chair of Jessica's House Music Weekend Committee thanked Council for their ongoing support and spoke of events in June including the grand openeing and music weekend.  Ms. Homuth requested Council consider two requests from the Committee, a request to decorate main street with blue and yellow bows and a request to waive the fees for the rental of some facility associated fees.

Dave Pullen, Huron County Forester presented on maintaining and enhancing forest cover and tree canopy in Huron County and South Huron.  He outlined some challenges and consequences of excess deforestation and updated council on existing programs and services.

Council discussed the random sampling by phone discussed by the Community Hub Recreation Steering Committee and that there will be opportunity for public input to ensure that every resident has the opportunity to give their opinion.

Council discussed the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority 2018 budget.

Council discussed the Exeter BIA 2018 budget report.

It was noted that this report is a budget amendment item and over the amount budgeted in the 2018 Transportation Services Capital Budget for Huron Street East Reconstruction project.  Mr. Giberson confirmed that a report on the impact of the road closure will be brought back to council for the next meeting.

    That South Huron Council amend the 2018 Transportation Services Capital Budget to include a capital project for engineering services associated with the replacement of Mollard Line Culvert Structure #1056 in the amount of $40,000.00; and

    That the source of funding for the project be from savings realized from the Huron Street East Reconstruction capital project.

    That South Huron Council supports the recommendation of the Heritage Advisory Committee and gives notice of intention to proceed with designating 296 William Street, Exeter Ontario as a heritage property under the Ontario Heritage Act.

Deputy Mayor Frayned advised Council that the Jones Pedestrian Bridge committee approved the concept for the bridge and the next step is approval from ABCA.  He updated Council on the location for CHIP sign and the upcoming Huron Manufacturing Association meeting.

Councillor Hebert updated Council on the Lions fishing derby held May 5, 2018 at the Morrison Dam Reservoir.

Mayor Cole attended a drug awareness teleconference  provided by public health.  She advised Council that she met with concerned residents of Huron Park and the landlord.  She attended the Hospital Auxiliary rummage sale and Grand Bend Community Health Centre presentation on healthy communities.  

Mayor Cole advised of a radio promotion for the "Feed the People" Concert tobe held on Saturday, May 12 and advised that she volunteered for McHappy Days at McDonalds.  She advised that she attended an Emergency Management control group committee meeting on risk assessment and a Rotary Club meeting in Grand Bend at Oakwood.  

She advised Council of an upcoming blood donor clinic this Wednesday and the Open House for the Zoning By-Law consolidation on May 10, 2018.

Councillor Oke attended the Earth Day event organized by Communities in Bloom and spoke to the official launch of the South Huron barn quilt trail.  He noted that next Wednesday is Kirkton Pool registration.

Councillor Hebert advised that the Communities in Bloom will be having another tree sale May 12 at the Usborne shed.  He also mentioned that there is a Community Hub committee meeting Tuesday night.

Council directed Administration to respond to this letter and include the report from the CAO item 9.9.1.

Mayor Cole advised she would attend and Councillor Hebert advised he would be alternate if she was unable to attend.

Council directed Administration prepare a report for the May 22, 2018 council meeting providing an overview of support to date including the additional request from today from the Jessica's House Music Weekend Committee.
